do you know about www.meetup.com ? An online group organising site?
I joined the Ignite in the North meet up two weeks ago and was approached by them to present on the subject matter of this blog.
I’d like you to have a look at this - Health2.0. You’ll find more in relation to this by googling the term. I’m thinking at this point that I have argument (should that be debate?) with it. And it seems I’m not alone. I may not be completely familiar with it just yet but it appears both highly Americanised and Medical Model Led. And here I go about qualifying that statement ( I love the US I swear! - and I’ve nothing against the medical model - I’m just a grassroots girl at heart, give me the social model of anything and I’m happy) What I mean is - I’m confused. Health 2.0 appears to give voice to services and diagnosis and medication but I don’t see or hear much voice of the people that are being talked about. And I can see a lot of administration - rating of Dr’s, booking appointments, ordering meds online. But I don’t see ‘the public’ getting to grips with the idea that by forming a group of people who comment positively on each others online authoring see an emerging pattern of recovery.
But maybe that’s just me?
So. I offer you two things before the weekend.
1) a term that I have coined (as far as I gather) Recovery2.0
and I’d like us all (and by us all, I mean - US ALL!) to start working out what that means.
2) a place where you can begin doing that together. You can thank Jon Beech for the new improved dysconnected blog with added ‘Comments’ option. Please feel free to join in. It’d be great to have you on board.
