The future is already here. It’s just unevenly distributed »

I’m wading through the 82 page Delivering Digital Inclusion - An Action Plan for Consultation this week.  Comment to be in by the beginning of next week.

The quote above is the opening lines of the Overview.

From Point 6 - Missed opportunities in realising the indirect benefits

‘There is a big disconnect between those who know what digital technology can do and those who understand the needs of disadvantaged people.  Despite the flexibility and capacity of technology to offer joined up delivery across sectors and solutions to those with complex requirement, there exists a silo mentality in the design and delivery of some technology-led solutions’

As I continue to make my way through the document I am so relieved to see relevant and joined up thinking and action planning.

But I have further ground to make.  Mental health is everything.

The term used such -  Digital Inclusion is interchangeable for Recovery.  In some ways this statement appears to be a stretch.  But this is just a way to begin describing something that as yet we have not applied as a social model or to the Digital Information Age.   Until we have addressed the knowledge and digitial divides and ensured parity and equity for the most disadvantaged of the community it will be difficult to fully quantify the impact of recovery focused attribution to the Digital Inclusion strands.

I think I’m getting clearer that a central role I hold will be to ensure recovery stays on this agenda - not just as a concept but in practice.
